A new release, more funding, plugins and more! - Omarchy Weekly

Hey, this is Greg, bringing you the latest news about Omarchy.

Let's start with Omarchy Core related news.

Omarchy 4.0.3 has been released!
Besides fingerprint-setup improvements, Panther Lake kernel 7.2.3, Broadcom Wi-Fi via DKMS, and security hardenings , this release also adds out-of-the-box integration for both Hermes and Openclaw.

Omarchy.org has a new design and is available in 29 languages
The website has a completely new design with a theme switcher and it was also made available in 29 languages on local domains.

Omacom Foundation adds another ~$510k
OpenRouter pledged $150k worth of tokens, Four Technologies pledged $100k/year for 3 years and ~$60k pledged from ~500 community patrons.

DigitalOcean joins as Founding Corporate Patron with $3M
DigitalOcean will contribute $1M/year for three years to the Omacom Foundation. This brings total backing to about $18.5M!

outfoxxed hired as Head of Omarchy Shell
The creator of Quickshell (the toolkit behind Quattro’s desktop) joins Omacom full-time and Omarchy Core. This replaces the earlier three-year Quickshell sponsorship.

Emir Beganović hired as Head of Infrastructure
Emir is the foundation’s third full-time hire. He is known for TryOmarchy, the Omarchy desktop booting in the browser on Cloudflare.

The Omarchy Doctrine
Omarchy has a doctrine now, and let me just put this quote from it here:

Flea 0.2.0 — dual-pane file manager
Not on the registry yet, but this keyboard-first file manager is worth a mention.

hyprmoncfg — multi-monitor manager
This plugin allows you to make profiles by make/model/serial, hotplug + lid + suspend restore. It is one of the most-used third-party plugins.

Omarchy News Radar
A keyboard-first front page for meaningful Omarchy activity, like announcements posted, plugins released, etc.

Calendar Sync Clock
A provider agnostic clock and calendar replacement for the Omarchy bar.

Lotus — Framework Laptop 16 LED matrix
A plugin for the Framework Laptop 16 LED matrix, the 9×34 greyscale module that sits next to the keyboard. It has a bunch of different modes, definitely worth a look if you own the hardware.

The very first edition of Omarchy Weekly

Hey, this is Greg, welcome to the first issue of Omarchy Weekly! The goal of this newsletter is to keep you in the loop with all the interesting things happening in the Omarchy world. The structure is experimental and if you have any feedback, just let me know.

Let's start with Omarchy Core related news.

Omarchy 4.0.2 was released
This is a security release, you should definitely install the updates. And while we are on the topic of security, Omarchy has a dedicated security page now, with guidance about reporting issues.

Quattro crosses 200 000 ISO downloads
The Quattro ISO reached more than 200k downloads from 215 countries since its release 3 weeks ago. It seems like this is indeed going to be the year of Linux on the desktop!

Omacom Foundation secures $1.95M in tokens
Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Fireworks pledges $1.95M worth of tokens to the Foundation. These tokens will be used to accellerate the development of Omarchy.

The Foundation's first hire: Krzysztof Wilczyński
Krzysztof is a longtime Linux kernel developer and became the first hire of the Omacom Foundation. He will join to lead the work on the Omarchy Kernel.

Omacom Foundation hits $13M in funding
With the first four Distinguished Patrons have pledging $100,000 each, Omarchy reached $13M in total funding.
Also, 1Password and 37signals became the first corporate patrons, pledging $100k/year for three years each. And patronage is now open to everyone, there are public tiers at $16, $256, $2048 / $8192 if you want to financially contribute to the project.

First plugin competition winners
The first Omarchy plugin competition is over and Radio Atlas won $2500 for being first, Omagotchi $1000 for the second place, and OmarchyPods $500 for the third place.

This is a plugin to your Omarchy bar to enable, disable, update, install, and remove plugins.

Omagen
This is an Image-to-theme plugin Pick a wallpaper, preview, then apply. Creating you own theme has never been easier.

Worldclock
A keyboard-friendly, DST-correct world clock for the Omarchy bar.

Omarchy Theme Manager
Manage Omarchy themes and browse Aether-backed Wallhaven wallpapers from the native picker.

Omarchy plugin development
There is an official guide about creating and publishing a plugin. If you have an idea, read this guide and get going.


Omarchy already has plenty of community themes, if you want to create your own, you should check out the manual for that.

Introducing Omarchy AIR
The foundation started an Artists in Residence program and HANCORE, OldJobobo and Taha are the first three to get $2500 per month for 6 months as support to develop themes and plugins for Omarchy.

Aether / Omarchist
This a plugion, not a theme, from the aforementioned Taha. Omarchist brings Omarchy theme creation and system configuration into the GUI realm. If you develop themes, this will make it much easier.

Q2DM1 theme
A gritty, industrial green Omarchy theme inspired by the legendary Quake II multiplayer deathmatch map q2dm1: The Edge
